Sustainability
At Pig & Flower, in addition to donating to charity, we aim to be as sustainable and environmentally friendly as we can be. As a small, independent business, that isn’t always as easy as it sounds! There are many options that just aren’t as available to companies who don’t have the buying power to purchase in massive quantities. That being said, we’ve done our research, and we work with incredible and transparent suppliers in order to be as eco-friendly as we can! We opt for the most recyclable materials in all facets of our business- from production to packaging to shipping!
Net Zero Harvest
Many of the ingredients that go into our products are wild harvested from a USDA Certified Organic forest farm. The ethically hand-picked process follows a strict “pick one, leave two” harvest technique which ensures sustainability, respects the wilderness and impacts the forest as little as possible. Electronic vehicles are used during harvest. Geothermal and solar energy are the only sources used to prepare the ingredients picked from this forest farm. Currently 5 our products are created using these methods and we are committed to moving toward producing 100% of our products this way.
Palm Oil
We do not use Palm Oil or derivatives in any of our products. Palm oil is the main ingredient in most soaps, including high end soaps, and many other skincare products. But while this ingredient may be inexpensive and easy to access, the deforestation required to plant massive palm oil plantations is detrimental to local wildlife and is a driver of climate change. The palm oil industry is destroying the natural habitat of the Orangutan in favor of planting palm oil trees and it is estimated that between 1,000-5,000 are killed every year in palm oil concessions. Furthermore, workers on palm plantations are often paid poverty wages and denied adequate health care. These workers are often given such high quotas that they’re forced to have their families, including children, work alongside them for free, just so that they don’t lose their jobs.
Packaging
No new plastic! Our products come in a mix of glass and recycled plastic. Recycled plastic is one of our preferred packaging methods as it is the most energy efficient to recycle, its light weight makes it more energy efficient for shipping and it is resilient to oils in skin care products. Recycled PET plastic saves approximately 12,000 BTU's and it is the only plastic that is 100% recyclable.
Our bottle supplier is currently working on a new vegetable plastic made from the resin of corn which will produce no extra carbon dioxide when burned. When completed, this will replace all of our recycled PET plastic.
In addition to using up-cycled and recyclable plastic parts, we partner with CleanHub in their mission to collect and recover ocean-bound plastic well before it ends up there. Pig & Flower works with CleanHub to fund the collection of plastic for every product sold. We are currently able to recover 888 lbs of plastic per year and we hope to continue to increase our impact every year!
All of our soap packaging is minimal, plastic free, recyclable and compostable and the label ink is soy-based. We are part of the Eco-Packaging Alliance, meaning that every soap order plants trees in an area of need in California (our headquarters!). This initiative helps to further offset our packaging impact.
Pig & Flower does not use any outer skincare boxes to eliminate throw-away packaging and reduce our packaging footprint.
We do our best to provide a product that is extremely recyclable and if recycled, can easily be made into new products. We ask you to help us in this effort by rinsing and recycling your Pig & Flower bottles so that they can have a new life!

At Pig & Flower we are always open to suggestions and learning opportunities! If you have any ideas, please contact us at Hello@PigandFlower.com.
We appreciate you!
